It has been a full month!! I am going to try to hit the highlights...
Andrew and I traveled to Sullivan, IL for my Aunt Shary and Uncle Thom's 50th wedding anniversary. It all started with a call from my Aunt Shary to let us know about a cook out they would be having to celebrate. I decided it was way past time for my Mom to make a trip to see her brother and sisters and this was a good reason. So we loaded up my Mom (aka Grandma), (my sister) Mary, (my niece) Elizabeth, Andrew and I into a 2008 Toyota Minivan which we had rented for the occasion...and off we drove! Well actually Mary drove...14 hours later we arrived in Sullivan. Andrew is a great traveler. I had packed a huge bag of toys and snacks. His favorite pass time as he rode though was watching Elizabeth. We had a great time in IL!! Andrew was able to meet my Aunt Sandy, Aunt Penny and Uncle Bob for the first time. We got to visit my Mom's childhood home and see the city where she grew up. I was 9 the last time we visited Decatur so I have very little memory of previous visits. Andrew and I had dinner with Kyle's Aunt Gloria and Uncle Dick one evening. They were very excited to meet Andrew. The cookout was also lots of fun. It was at this really nice park that made me wish Andrew was a little older so he could enjoy more then the swings. It was also a beautiful day. My cousin Toby and his wife Toni did a great job hosting the event.
Andrew also had his 9mo. doctor's appointment. He is 25lbs (95%) and 29.5 in. (90%). His iron was good. He didn't have to have any shots. His flat spot has mostly corrected itself so we won't have to have a helmet. (VERY good news) Andrew is now pulling up, going from a crawling position to a sitting position on his own, has two bottom teeth (working on the top two too) and finally loving to eat. He still isn't crawling forward yet but he can army crawl with his belly on the ground and crawl backwards. Although, his favorite mode of transportation is the log roll. He has such a sweet smile and plays really well on the floor by himself or with his buddies Will, Zane, Micah and Hollis. His favorite toys are a wooden spoon and a curly straw. We do have lots of real toys for him but those are his favorites. He hits things to hear the noise and then just laughs and laughs.
I had the scare of my life yesterday. Andrew was chewing on a Gerber Biter Biscuit. It is a long cookie that gets melty when gummed by babies. He managed to hack of a bite which is normal. He usually is pretty good about chewing before he swallows it or I take it out of his mouth if it is too big. Well yesterday he got a bite and managed to swallow it before I could dig it out. I was sitting right in front of him when it happened. He choked on the bite to the point where he could not breathe, cough or cry. I will see the look on his face in my nightmares for the rest of my life. Luckily, I am a Red Cross CPR instructor and am very familiar with the Conscious Choking Rescue. I yanked poor Andrew from his high chair, flipped him over and gave him four back blows. On the 4th one the cookie came flying out and then he threw up all over me and began to cry. That is the best sound I have EVER heard. I really want to encourage everyone to get trained today. I was sitting less then two feet away from him when this happened. I don't want to even think about what would have happened if I had not been trained to help. You never think it will happen to you...I have taught hundreds of people that skill and in all that time never imagined I would have to use it on someone I loved. This really brought forward to me that God has a master plan for us. He brings people, events and jobs into our lives for a reason. If I had not worked at ARC, I may not have been able to help Andrew. He is fine now and thankfully will not have a memory of it. Although Mommy will never ever forget it...
Andrew and I are on our own this weekend. Kyle is traveling to VT for the wedding of his childhood friend, Andrew Miller. Andrew and I are going to have lots of bonding time while Daddy is away. My mom is going to come and spend Saturday night with us. Then we are going to spend Sunday afternoon with Grandma Deen and Grandpa David (friends of the family) and have a cook out.
In the next couple of weeks Andrew is having a photo shoot since we haven't done a real one in 8 months and Mommy has to start working on Andrew's birthday party preparations. My baby is turning 1 in just two short months!!

New Developments
Andrew's second tooth broke through yesterday! Two teeth in one week. Hopefully it will get easier from here on out. Is that wishful thinking? I guess it is also time to baby proof. Yesterday he was trying to reach toys that were out of his reach and in some cases across the room. He developed a modified army crawl/ wiggle to get the ones that were close. To reach the ones that were further away he would log roll across the room. I am going to have to try to get him to do it again so that we can get it on video. It was pretty funny.

Four Months Later...
It has recently come to my attention that a few VERY important people do read this blog. I was thinking no one was reading it so I haven't updated it in quiet awhile. Four months to be exact...I know this because my little baby boy turned 8 months old this past week.
Our life over the last 4 months has been a whirl wind. We got our little house all packed up and transferred to our new bigger house. The moving process was pain. It took so much longer then we thought it would, but looking around now that everything is finally unpacked, it was worth it. We had a professional painter come in and paint most of the house. When we moved in it was all cream. Kyle and I picked out new furniture for the entire house along with a new 57" flat screen TV (wonder who picked that out...) . I did learn through this process that I don't ever want to be a interior decorator. We also had the back yard fenced in for Sydney too. Our neighbors are great. The whole culdesac had a cook out on Memorial Day. That is a big change from our last neighborhood. This house is really starting to feel like home. I don't think we could be happier with things. We now have plenty of room for visitors....hint hint...
Kyle is still kicking butt and taking names at work. Sometimes I would like to throw his Blackberry in the toilet. I can't complain too much because he is working so hard so that I can stay at home and play with Andrew all day. I am really enjoying being a stay at home mom. I had my doubts that I would at first. I have met some really great "mommy friends" who are also home during the day and have babies Andrew's age. They are my sanity and understand when I say "we are having one of THOSE days".
Andrew is getting so big!! He is hanging out in the 97% curve for size and weight. He weighs 22lbs already. He is going to be tall like his daddy too. He isn't crawling yet, but getting so close. He now reaches for toys and ends up on all fours or on his tummy. He used to scream when that would happen. Now he will play for a few minutes before he wants to be sat back up. EVERYTHING goes in his mouth. He also loves his exersaucer and jumperoo. He FINALLY got his first tooth last week and is working on his second one already. We have been waiting on that tooth for four months now. :) He hasn't pulled up on his own yet, but loves to stand on his own either holding on to my fingers or to the couch. When Andrew was born he had tons of hair. That hair just got longer and longer so yesterday we went for a haircut. It is cute but made him look like a little boy. I was so sad. I still haven't adjusted to it. He is eating solid food finally. We got off to a really slow start. I would put baby food in his mouth and he would gag on it for the longest time. Finally, around 6mo. things started to improve. Now he wants what is on everyone's plate! We have tried to explain that he isn't ready for steak yet... Our biggest challenge in the past 4 months has been learning to nap in the crib instead of his swing. When we made the transfer he went on a nap strike for 6 days!! Mommy finally won out and now he doesn't want to sleep anywhere else. We found that out the hard way on our recent trip to visit Kyle's family in IL. He travels in the car like a champ though. We drove home from IL and he spent 20 hours in his car seat without a fuss. I am amazed everyday at how his little personality is growing. He is so lovable and sweet natured. He loves kisses and cuddles. He is also all little boy and likes to "play rough" with Daddy. It is amazing how much you can love one little person.
We are having a great summer. We hope you are as well! Stop by and visit us if you are in the area!

Andrew Is 4 Months
When Andrew was born I would tell myself...If I make it to 4 months old, life will be good. I knew at 4mo. that Andrew would be smiling, interacting more and hopefully sleeping through the night. I thought by that point that we would be in a routine and have learned each other. I used it as my mental pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I know it is silly, but you come up with some strange thoughts when you haven't really slept though the night in weeks and you are sitting alone in the dark living room at 3am waiting for your child to fall asleep. If we could only make it to 4mo...at the time it seemed so far away.
This weekend Andrew will be 4mo old! Where did the time go? A lot of my mental goals have come true. Andrew is sleeping 11-12 hours a night. We have somewhat of a routine...most importantly at bed time. He smiles regularly. It melts my heart every single time. I hope he never realizes the power that sweet smile has. If he does, we are sure to have a pony or heaven knows what else. He loves to "talk" to anyone who takes the time to listen. He is holding his toys and working hard to get them in his mouth. And after 8 hours of fussy Andrew today we also suspect teething fun has begun. He HATES tummy time and loves to sit up like a big boy.
As for learning each other that is a continuous job. When I think I have finally figured out how he works, the next day it is completely different. I love this job. It is harder and way more fun then any job I have ever had. I am so blessed that my husband is willing to work everyday so that I can be home with our "little man".
As I sat rocking Andrew this morning I decided that I don't need another goal to work to. In the months ahead I am going to try and enjoy my baby while he is still a baby. No more wishing these months away. It just goes by too fast.

I am so excited that I am having a hard time sitting still. The Franklin family is T-minus 2 hours from closing on our new house!! It is a great house with big flat back yard! The past few weeks Kyle and I have spent quite a bit of time furniture shopping. It is time that we replace the furniture we have had since we moved into appartments out of college. Sydney, our Golden, is going to be unhappy when I break the news that she will no longer be allowed on the sofa. I haven't mentioned it to Kyle yet but I am planning a house warming party for sometime in April once we have gotten settled. There will be more details to come. I wish there was some way that you could move without actually having to worry about getting everything ready, packed, cleaned and unpacked. I need a magic wand...
Andrew is doing great! He is getting so big. We switched him into six mo clothes last week. He will be 4mo. next Saturday. He is smiling, and laughing more and more. He has learned how to hold toys and loves to "talk" about them. He also loves pulling his blankets up to his face to cuddle. His favorite is a light blue blanket with stars on it that Kyle's Aunt Renelle sent when Andrew was born. He sleeps with it in his swing.
